It is a great pleasure to announce the preliminary programme of the 26th conference of European Wound Management Association, EWMA 2016.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS: KEY SESSIONS AT EWMA 2016

Key sessions at EWMA 2016 include a mix of new topics that are important to the European wound community in general in addition to topics that have had enormous appeal during previous EWMA conferences. The sessions deal with the advancement of education and research in relation to epidemiology, pathology, diagnosis, prevention, and management of wounds. Although mainly theoretical, key sessions will include time for discussion among lecturers and audiences.

EWMA 2016 key sessions are held in German or English with simultaneous translation.

Opening Key session: Patients. Wounds. Rights

Get the latest perspectives on patients rights, relations between patient and health care professionals, eHealth influence, patient empowerment as well as patient safety.

New Technologies in Wound Care

The participants will get an updated panorama of what technology has to offer to wound care professionals in 2016.

Migration, culture and ethnic skins

Get updated on the topic of migration, culture and ethnic skins in an ever-changing world.

Adipositas and Wound Care

The key session will present the latest research on the challenges of diabesity as well as focus on strategies for surgical management of wounds in persons with obesity as well as include perspectives of obesity’s impact on the healthcare systems.

Biofilm

The key session on biofilm will update the participants on the latest news in biofilm as well as the relation to wound infections.

Evidence and Outcome

The session will address the current level of evidence and its interpretation in clinical trials and will be discussing the role of outcomes and outcome measures in wound care.

Biologically active tissue regeneration - Tissue engineering in wound care

Experts in the field will outline the  opportunities in tissue engineering cellular therapies, focus on stem cells clinical applications of tissue engineering and  improvement of care of patients with difficult wounds.

Management of patients with venous leg ulcers: Current best practice

The session will present the latest news on patients with venous leg ulcers  based on the EWMA Leg Ulcer guidance document.

Oxygen Treatment in Wound Healing

The key session will present the latest perspectives on oxygen treatment in wound healing.

Health Related Quality of Life

Based on a EWMA document to be published, experts will present and discuss perspectives on health related quality of life

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy

This key session provides the audience with an introduction to the objectives and primary content of the EWMA document on NPWT. The document aims to provide wound care clinicians with structured overview of the key issues related to application if NPWT for chronic wounds as well as for closed incisions.

Wound Care Networking structures - Best Practice Germany

The key session will focus on networking structures and implementation of structures in wound care.

Individualized wound diagnostics

Chronic wounds may be as different as individual persons. Even if there are many similarities in various types of wounds, we learned for recent years from different scientific studies that not all patients have the same benefit from comparable therapies. The session will focus on a number of areas in wound diagnostics and discuss in which direction the journey of an individualized diagnostic will go into the future.

Local wound infection

In this key session on local wound infections, the different perspectives of different disciplines from the point of view of microbiology, dermatology and surgery of the German speaking countries Switzerland, Austria and Germany are presented and discussed critically.

Compression Therapy

In this key session on compression therapy, the different perspectives of different disciplines from the standpoints of phlebology, dermatology and nursing of the German speaking countries Switzerland, Austria and Germany are presented and discussed critically.

EWMA encourages everybody involved in research related to wound management to share your studies and scientific results with colleagues and fellow delegates by submitting an abstract for the EWMA 2016 conference. Abstracts can be submitted for any topic in wound healing and wound management.
